GULLIVER® Pneumatic Waste Water Transportation

These days, longer and longer distances must be covered to treatment plants with minimal waste water quantities. Hydrogen sulfide forms in the pressure pipe which leads to the development of sulphuric acid, causing corrosion to metal and concrete materials as well as bad odours.

Waste water disposal is a municipal task of general overall importance. Todays powerful treatment plants are having to draw waste water from ever larger areas over greater distances. These greater distances between consumer and treatment plant must be covered with minimal quantities of waste water. Waste water dwelling for long periods can lead to problems in the pressure main, waste water pipes and the surrounding environment due to the build up of hydrogen sulfide.

Pneumatic waste water transportation systems GULLIVER® and GULLICOMB® prevent H2S formation, corrosion and bad odours. Depending on system conditions, transporting waste water using by applying pressurized air provides the necessary prerequisites for keeping the waste water aerobic and to move it through long pressure pipes without the build up of hydrogen sulfide. The entirety of the pressure pipe is aerated with compressed air each day to empty it and effectively prevent the build up of deposits and a film of sewage. The GULLICOMB® system combines the advantages of pneumatic transport with hydraulic waste water transport.

hoelschertechnic-gorator® designs the pumping station according to the conditions present and builds the stations with consideration to the customer’s requirements. As a manufacturer and plant builder, hoelschertechnic-gorator® is also able to develop special solutions.

Advantages

  • Ventilating waste water prevents anaerobic build-up of rotting material
  • No bad smells due to the build up of hydrogen sulfide
  • No biogenic sulphuric acid corrosion to concrete and metal elements
  • Adaptive conveyance even of waste water with high concentrations of solid matter
  • Low-wear operation without any rotating parts within the waste water
  • No danger of becoming blocked as the ball passage is
the same as the pipe diameter
  • No ventilation or bleed valves required in the pipe
  • Affordable laying of pressure pipe at a frost-free depth,
    adapted to the terrain
  • No issues with surges due to the air cushion within the
    pressure pipe
  • Complete drainage of the pressure pipe to prevent
    deposits
  • No bad odours at the pumping station as the
pre-shaft and working tank are fully emptied
  • No biological contamination of the treatment plant from putrid waste water
  • Solid materials are not crushed into small pieces, thus preventing the build up of sludge in the
sewer network and optimizing the effectiveness of the separation stage
    in the treatment plant
  • Operators do not come into contact with the waste water, allowing
    for cleaner maintenance work

Applications

Long pressure pipes with large volumes, e.g.:

  • Closure of small treatment plants
  • Remote regions

Long dwell periods in the pressure pipe, e.g.:

  • Motorway service stations
  • Local recreation areas
  • Camp sites
  • Mixed sewer systems
  • High reserve capacity

Large pumping heights where volume may be low, e.g.:

  • Mountainous regions
  • Pipe laying adapted to the terrain
  • Flushing culverts

GULLIVER® Pneumatic Waste Water Transportation System

Waste water is collected in a working tank and
transported by compressed air from compressors without blockages
Oxygen is fed into the waste water via the compressed air ensuring
the environment inside the pressure pipe remains aerobic. The entirety
of the pressure pipe is aerated with compressed air each day to empty it and
effectively prevent the build up of deposits and a film of sewage.

GULLICOMB® Pneumatic Waste Water Transportation

GULLICOMB® combines the beneficial properties of
pneumatic and hydraulic water pumping stations.
This technology is preferred where strongly varying
volumes of waste water are to be transported, such as in mixed systems.
Where waste water volumes are low, the principle of
pneumatic waste water transport using compressed air
with all its advantages is used. Where waste water volume is large, a
dry-installed pump allows the larger volume to be transported
with excellent energy efficiency. Compressors provide
aeration for daily emptying, flushing and
cleaning of the pressure pipe.

Compressed air generation
